Geological Society

"Engineering Geology is the science devoted to the investigation, study and solution of the engineering and environmental problems which may arise as the result of the interaction between geology and the works and activities of man as well as to the prediction and of the development of measures for prevention or remediation of geological hazards." (IAEG statutes, 1992).

The Engineering Group is pleased to announce 3 new small funding schemes for Geological Society Members. Further details and applications forms below:

Engineering Group Student Fund Award

 

The Engineering Group Engineering Geology Fund is available to all members of the Geological Society of at least one year's standing as a Fellow to support activities associated with Engineering Geology. This may include any activities to assist with your education (research activities, books, training courses, equipment as well as conference/fieldtrip attendance). Priority will be given to those with limited alternative sources of funding as well as to those involved EGGS-sponsored activities. Grants are normally for sums up to £500.

 

Applications can be submitted at any time but are reviewed twice a year. Applications should be made using the official application form and sent to the Secretary of EGGS by the deadline dates stipulated. Please ensure that anticipated budgets are complete and, where appropriate, identify the source(s) of financing, e.g. EGGS, Employer, external source/Department/Institution (give details), personal funds, etc..

 

Successful applicants will be required to provide a brief statement of expenditure and activities undertaken within 3 months after the event has taken place.

Engineering Group Conference/Field Meeting Fund Award

 

The Engineering Group Conference/Field Meeting Fund is available to all members of the Geological Society of at least one year's standing as a Fellow to assist attendance at conferences and field meetings with a relevance to Engineering Geology. Priority will be given to those with limited alternative sources of funding as well as to those to wishing to attend EGGS-sponsored conferences and field meetings. Grants are normally for sums up to £500.

 

Applications can be submitted at any time but are reviewed twice a year. Applications should be made using the official application form and sent to the Secretary of EGGS by the deadline dates stipulated. Please ensure that anticipated budgets are complete and, where appropriate, identify the source(s) of financing, e.g. EGGS, external source/Department/Institution (give details), personal funds, etc..

This may include research activities, books, training courses, equipment but excludes conference/fieldtrip attendance and additional funding for student as these can be sought through separate Engineering Group Fund Awards. Priority will be given to those with limited alternative sources of funding as well as to those involved EGGS-sponsored activities. Grants are normally for sums up to £1000.

 

Applications can be submitted at any time but are reviewed twice a year. Applications should be made using the official application form and sent to the Secretary of EGGS by the deadline dates stipulated. Please ensure that anticipated budgets are complete and, where appropriate, identify the source(s) of financing, e.g. EGGS, Employer, external source/Department/Institution (give details), personal funds, etc..
